In this video, I demonstrate how to use SPARQL CONSTRUCT queries as a simple rule-based inference engine. Each CONSTRUCT query works like an IF–THEN rule, where the WHERE clause defines the condition (IF) and the CONSTRUCT clause defines the conclusion (THEN).
Using a few toy examples, we explore how to:
- Infer that male siblings are brothers
- Infer that owned animals are pets
- Deconstruct an IRI to unpack semantic information
This hands-on approach shows how you can extend your ontology with custom inference rules directly in SPARQL. Perfect for anyone working with RDF, knowledge graphs, or semantic web applications.
