Thought Experiment: How Intelligent Are Mushrooms?

A conversation the other day about chanterelles had me thinking about how I could, or could not, make the case that fungi are more intelligent than plants. I'm still not exactly sure whether any case could be made, but the hypothetical sent me into thinking about intelligence from a path I don't usually take. And sometimes new pathways into familiar ideas yield new insights. So, I'm going to ponder it, and I hope you do, too.
