After a long hiatus, this series is back on track. And for inspiration, we define AI according to the 1956 DARPA conference. This video goes through a bit of history before suggesting a combination of McCarthy and Minsky's views: AI are machines that, were a human to do the thing they are doing, it would be counted as intelligent. I conclude that they offer great guidance for the field, but not for whether a THING counts as AI.
